What will workplaces of the future look like? Deloitte goes deeper into the trends with its new report “It’s (almost) all about me: Workplace 2030”.

It pays to be aware. We have been already facing some of the job market changes with the growing trend of online outsourcing through online work marketplaces such as oDesk and Freelancer.com. The estimates are that the sector will be worth $US5 billion globally by 2018.  Career implications include issues such as work stability, skills, competitiveness, work relationships and a new set of leadership capabilities. 17 is the number of jobs people can now expect to have in their lifetime. Are we ready for the future workplace and job market challenges?

I have been thinking about writing a post on passion for some time. As a career coach I meet many people who talk about passion or rather about a lack of it and their quest to find a passion at work as a means to a meaningful life. I certainly agree that being passionate about your work can add a good deal of meaning to your life, but, I cannot see why our passion has to be placed at work in order to lead a meaningful life.
